hi blogland, sorry I have been absent but two big projects being juggled this week. I will get pics to you I promise, soon.
As I am about to shut down and head up to the lovely Lake Barrington again for our last rowing regatta for the season my last job is to add a link to another new blog - the Daily Quizzler. The lovely Erica Spinks whom many of you would remember as the recent editor of Down Under Quilts has taken over marketing of Quizzles and has started this blog to chat to you all and share colour secrets, quilting ideas and a Quizzle Community. Go say hi to her, she is missing all of her old magazine friends and readers...
So til next week, all have a lovely stitching weekend - I have nothing ready to take so a manual on the Adobe Creative Suite - about 3" thick is my weekend pasttime...
hugs,
Helen

mini lace bright as promised
Well I have finished colouring the third version of the Mini Lace panel this time using the Inktense pencils. It is not my favourite but gives yet another totally different look dont you think?
I also played with a Quizzle and matched colours to my photos from a couple of posts ago... it is so nifty to try different colours and see how they change the total look of the quilt. And matching the colours to photos of nature is really a cheats way of getting something to 'work'.....
this was my sunset/storm pic.... You know there is a free trial Quizzle on the website that you could go and play with colours and a favourite photo and see what you come up with..
and this was my little treasure from the back of the cupboard....
thanks for all the comments and emails on the extra quilt for the book. Actually it is no further ahead than when I posted the pic... so once I do a post on NPNT I am onto it, I really am this time... I have to do the Block of the week post first though or they are onto me!

colour inspiration
Just clearing off my camera card and here are a few pics I had snapped because of the wonderful colours and textures. When we give colour theory classes with Quizzles I use pictures of nature to find colours that work well together. Look at the lovely shades of lilac to greys and pinks in this eerie looking sunset (it was actually a threatening storm at dusk whilst we were camping in the bush last weekend), I am going to play in my Quizzles patterns to see how it will look....I think it may be a very peaceful quilt....
You may be wondering what the following pics are.....??? well, I think whilst I was stitching the NPNT quilt my Spring Cleaning of 2007 was forgotten, this little beauty I was saving at the back of the bottom shelf of the cupboard and I think that in a former life it was a 'sweet potato'! Yes, sorry girls, stitching comes before house cleaning in this part of the world - are you any different? - give me your secrets if you can manage a stitching passion and a neat house!

free e-book
Even though I have been away I have still been busy with Tracey my sister and partner in Wysistas. We have upgraded our Quizzles Website and put a free 6 part e-book up there to thank all who come to visit. It is chock full of wonderful quilting information, hints and tips collected over the years. This came about as our Quizzles(R) were recently reviewed by the wonderful and charming Ricky Timms on the Quilt Show - an online quilt show hosted (and owned) by Ricky and Alex Anderson. Very exciting for us to have them both and their 23,000 odd members see a little product from two Aussie mums! We also now have some Quizzles available for download from the Website straight to your computer. There are about 11 more to come still and then we will get working on some new designs.... never a dull moment here....and we believe the free Quizzle sample has been rereleased on the cover of Quilters Companion this month - so everyone who has asked who missed out last time (if you live in OZ) grab your copy and you too will get a play. They are good fun and a great way to choose your quilt colour schemes... and very easy to use. (sorry for internationals, apparantly they (the publishers) dont put the bonus's on the overseas copies so you'll just have to be content with the trial play on the website or download one to use at home- or you can buy hard copy Quizzles in the US .)
next we have to learn about affiliate programes so all your locals can share in the excitement - yet another learning curve..
in the meantime I have my 'Stitching in the Valley' charity stitching day this weekend so I may not get to chat again until after that.. will take some pics for you all..
hugs
Helen
