Boobie Buttons is it!

Hermione, you win the prize... I am going with the Boobie Buttons after a resounding yes from all who were surveyed (which means my family and friends:) ) So I have chosen some other names at random also:

Cate

Janet Rice Bredin - you can pick yours up at market :)

Karen C

please send me your snail mails....

Much of the printing is done and the packaging has begun. I had some help from some wonderful friends and Miss Tessie all day yesterday to get me organised - well start to - for the big trip to market in just two weeks. The buttons are not back from the assembler yet but will go into these little bags at the front here. The stacks you can see at the back are sets of cards for the Nice People Nice Things BOW which I just cannot keep up with! It is so satisfying to know that so many of you are enjoying this project. I have put more pics over at the NPNT blog.

I had a lovely day at the Quilted Crow gathering on Saturday, some time out for myself sort of. I spent the day finishing the binding on the Diametrically Deduced quilt ready to ship it to the show. Not completely happy with it but out of time now. Hopefully after getting all of this stock packed to ship I can finally get back to some work on Neenies Garden.... You can see more pics of the great Autumn gathering here, here, here and I am sure soon will be here and here. A lovely day with likeminded passionate stitchers - what lovely sharing women stitcher's are.

The Daily Quizzler!

hi blogland, sorry I have been absent but two big projects being juggled this week. I will get pics to you I promise, soon.

As I am about to shut down and head up to the lovely Lake Barrington again for our last rowing regatta for the season my last job is to add a link to another new blog - the Daily Quizzler. The lovely Erica Spinks whom many of you would remember as the recent editor of Down Under Quilts has taken over marketing of Quizzles and has started this blog to chat to you all and share colour secrets, quilting ideas and a Quizzle Community. Go say hi to her, she is missing all of her old magazine friends and readers...

So til next week, all have a lovely stitching weekend - I have nothing ready to take so a manual on the Adobe Creative Suite - about 3" thick is my weekend pasttime...

hugs,
Helen

Nice people nice things

Firstly, I want to say a huge thankyou to all the wonderful ladies who shared our Stitching in the Valley charity day on Sunday. Do you know, I had my camera and was so busy and chatty all day forgot to even take it out of its bag - so I have no pictures to show you. I do have a queen size quilt here ready for quilting however so shall show you a pic once it is finished. We are also well on the way to selling our raffle tickets for it with proceeds going to the Snugglybug project for the next 12 months.

On Monday my Love is fabric finally arrived.... how exciting, all this fabric to play with...
Actually it was to 'work' with as all was ready and waiting for its arrival. Nothing like a deadline and last minute panic. I have since been sewing to the wee hours each night to have this quilt of the week - yes 54 designs, 63 blocks - finished within a week (instead of a year) for photography tomorrow for release in 2 weeks... finally got it all laid out to put together today, I had no area large enough to lay them out so had to do some rearranging.... It is now in five rows to be finished tomorrow... fingers crossed I have something to take with me to Melbourne in two weeks...

And of course fingers crossed people like it and the concept of Nice people and Nice things - remember if every stitcher did one nice thing a week across their family, their street, their town, their country or the world, wouldnt it be a nicer place...

A huge congrats to all the juried entries and winners at Houston, what an amazing display of quilts and well done to all the Aussies.... wish I could be there one year.... will keep dreaming...

now remember only 4 days to the Last Minute Christmas Gift countdown!

hugs for the last time today

Madly stitching

I am madly stitching and have worked out I need to finish 2 or 3 stitcheries every night to get this Nice People Nice things project ready for you all in time, and thats without my other designs to stitch and finish also. So just a quick peek of tonights here although I still have another to finish so back to it I guess.
My babies are back from camp, very tired but having had a wonderful time. Poor Molly had many new experiences the most memorable meeting the ocean face to face whilst leaning over the side of the boat for the entire fishing trip... Lucky fish I guess. Snorkelling was their favourite seeing a gummy shark and many fish and corals off Maria Island. Many stories to tell, many new friends and many adventures. I am so glad we are were able to give them this chance.

Now I also have to say 'Go Cats'! sorry Leonie, they certainly took it to them and my pulse was racing.... next week will be very exciting...

so needle and thread in hand, away I must go for now
hugs

Townsville 2008

wow, yet another post from me tonight. Ro is out listening to bands, girls in bed, will get a few in whilst I have time. Janet of Wildcraft farm posted about the special invitation to

WHEN FRIENDS GATHER ..... A CELEBRATION OF FRIENDSHIP
Tinkers Cart Quilting Shop invites you to come and join us for a one day Retreat on Saturday March 1st, 2008 at Pimlico Performing Arts Centre

Myself, Janet and Rosalie Quinlan are the guest tutors and this is exciting for me as I spent 3 years in Townsville and would love to go back and catch up with old friends and see how the town has changed. And I will get to meet Janet and Rosalie, friends in passion of stitching if not yet in life and spend a couple of wonderful days with likeminded women. And to make my trip even more exciting it looks like I'll also be stopping off to teach for a couple of days at Eumundi at the beautiful Kindred Spirits B&B - have a look at the website, it looks like Heaven and Sue and Jim have been working on this dream as long as I have known them. Then although not yet confirmed a couple of days teaching in Brisbane before returning home. I will be teaching Colourque(R) projects and beautiful gathering projects (had better get my pencil going again).

And I have also been confirmed to teach at the HMQS show in Salt Lake City in May of 2008 so shaping up to be a busy year already... I will be teaching Blessed Baltimore and Mini Lace classes in Utah. Hopefully I'll be able to source a couple of more stores or places to teach between there and Market which is in Portland Oregon next year.

bye again, I really do need to fold a few hundred Huggettes which were supposed to be done tonight for an order to ship on Monday.

therapy of stitching

I met a lovely lady yesterday who came to my home studio. She hasnt had a wonderful life and has struggled through much of it battling things many of us have just not had to deal with. However, she has found stitching and has finally found happiness and passion in it. It has given her confidence that she can achieve and she is a whole person of goodness and strength. This reinforced my belief that stitching and the stitching community is therapeautic and all my work is worth it if it helps just one person to live a happier life...

on that note, my Stitching in the valley has been postponed to the 28th October. This is a day of stitching, sharing, caring and working together as women to make a difference to our lives and others.

stitch on girls..... and pass your passion to many

hugs
Helen
